Event Note Reuven Zaslani's first mission was as a messenger for the Department to Iraq מחלקה ל עיראק, visiting the University of Baghdad under the guise of a teacher of Hebrew and Oriental Studies, where he was to report on the situation of Iraqi Jews and the state of British and Iraqi assessments of the situation in Israel. In 1935, Reuven Zaslani was sent back to Baghdad, undercover of a journalist for the Palestine Post, to develop links with the Kurds. |

From 1936, Reuven Zaslani served in the political department of the Jewish Agency הסוכנות היהודית, and was sent to intelligence gathering missions in Lebanon and Syria , In December 1947, Reuven Zaslani became assistant on intelligence affairs for David Ben-Gurion, and was appointed head of state military and political division in the Foreign Ministry. On his trip to London. in 1948, Reuven Zaslani concluded that Britain did not oppose partition.
On December 13, 1949, David Ben-Gurion tasked Reuven Shiloah with establishing and running a new department, המוסד לריכוז ותיאום פעולות המודיעין, for centralized and coordinated intelligence activities. |
