Yisrael Zack worked at the Electric Company, as a garage and machinist shop, and an electrical laboratory, and, in the evenings, he enrolled in technical studies for working youth at the Technion הטכניון - מכון טכנולוגי לישראל.

Nahum Shomroni joined Palyam פלי"ם with a group 14 members of Hakhsharat Neve Yam הכשרת נוה-ים who were sent to Sdot Yam שדות ים.

Yisrael Zack cites: "During 1945 I went with my peer group from the Machanot Olim, to Kibbutz Maoz Chaim in the Beit Shean Valley for training, and joined the Palmach. We were assigned to “D” Company of the 1st Battalion."

Yisrael Zack cites: "Our group was allowed to take part in the “Night of the Bridges” and we blew up the Sheikh Hussein Bridge over the Jordan, east of Maoz Chaim."

On the Night of th Bridges ליל הגשרים, Amnon Yonah served as Commander of the Palmach פלמ"ח squad that blew up the railway bridge over the Yarmuk River נהר הירמוך.

Chaya Kozlovsky served as radio operator at Ramot Naftali רמות נפתלי

Dan Lener served as an operations Commander during the Night of the Bridges ליל הגשרים.

Yisrael Zack cites: "Towards the end of 1946 it was announced that the Palyam ("J" Company) started to mobilize new members. I asked to be transferred to this Company and my request was granted."

Yisrael Zack served as commander of the Naval base at the Lido, near Tiberias טבריה, and the base at Ein Gev עין גב.
He was assigned as commander of the base at kibbutz Dardara, under land siege on the eastern shore of the Kinneret כנרת, not far from Syrian outposts on the Golan גּולן.

In 1950, Yisrael Zack was discharged from the Israeli Navy חיל הים הישראלי.
