Event Note Ester and Hanka Wajcblum were assigned to forced labor at the Weichsel – Union Metallwerke Munitions plant. Ester and Hanka Wajcblum were recruited by Ala Gertner to steal gunpowder from the Weichsel – Union Metallwerke Munitions plant, which was passed to Roza Robota, who transferred the gunpowder to the Sonderkommando underground, which used it, on October 7, 1944, to blow up Crematorium IV in Birkenau.
