Event Note David Grajower cites: "They were sent to showers after which their whole body was shaved. The beds on which they slept were bare wood with no mattresses. David was sent to work in the river. It was the end of January 1944. The water was freezing. He had to stand in the water up to his ankles and take coarse sand out of the water with bare hands. Later, he worked in an ammunitions factory where 500 kg. bombs were made. While working there, David and his friends felt that their end was near. The daily atmosphere was of death all around." |
