Event Note During 1912-1914 the teenage Arthur Szyk produced numerous drawings and caricatures on contemporary political themes that were published in the Łódź satirical magazine Śmiech. In 1913, Arthur Szyk returned to Poland, and studied in Teodor Axentowicz's class at Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. In 1914, Arthur Szyk and a group of Polish-Jewish artists and writers, travelled to Palestine, organized by the Jewish Cultural Society, haZamir, where he observed Jewish settlers working for the future Jewish state. |
