Registered name: Pisces
Narrative
In the summer of 1960, Egoz אגוז Pisces, a former vessel of the Moroccan Royal Air Force, was leased by Misgueret Mossad, so they were no longer dependant on smugglers to smuggle Jews out of Morocco.
Narrative
On Wednesday 11 January 1961, Egoz אגוז Pisces sailed for the thirteenth time, on her illegal crossing to Gibraltar, carrying ten families of Moroccan Jews, 42 people in all.
Narrative
Captain Francisco Morilla commanded a three-man Spanish crew aboard Egoz אגוז Pisces.
Narrative
Egoz אגוז Pisces sailed out to sea, but despite the fact the forecast had been checked for good weather, the waves became rough. Yet all checks had been made and the forecast had been for good weather.
At 3:00AM GMT, ten miles from the Moroccan coast, the hull of Egoz אגוז Pisces split 'like a nutshell', and sank within five minutes.
Captain Francisco Morilla and two sailors managed to escape in the only lifeboat.
