In 1945, Enrico Levy was given a ‘laissé passer’ from the British Admiralty allowing him to go anywhere in Italy.
He searched for a boat suitable and safe as possible to take refugees to Palestine.
In Monopoli, he found a boat vessel, and in Barlatte, noth of Bari, he found a second.

Nettuno was acquired by Enrico Levy for Mossad leAliyah Bet.
After the successful voyage of Dalin, Enrico Levy decided that "a larger vessel would be even better as it would be safer and could carry more people."
He hired the captain and the crew, acquired the fuel, food, water, and maps for the voyage, and he advised the captain as to the course to take to avoid
mine fields.
Natan 'נתן א Nettuno was prepared for departure by Mossad leAliyah Bet and Palyam פלי"ם members, plus the Jewish soldiers from Transportation Unit 468 of the British Army.
