Narrative
Around 1324, Jews settled in Brzeg, which lay on the commercial route to Wrotizla, in which Jews had long resided.
In 1358, Jews lent money to local noblemen and the duke of Brzeg, Ludwig I, who granted them freedom of movement in the duchy.
In 1392, it was cited that all debts of the duke had been discharged by the payments to a Jew of Brzeg (Jacob, the son of Moses), of a certificate of indebtedness.
In 1398, the Jews of Brzeg bought a letter of protection from the duke, whereby they were guaranteed the peaceful possession of their privileges.

In 1423, Duke Ludwig II granted the Jews of Brzeg rights of residence on payment of an annual tax of 20 gulden.
In 1453, the Jews were expelled from the duchies of Brzeg and Liegnitz, because of inflammatory preachings by Franciscan John Capistrano.
Narrative
On Kristallnacht, November 10, 1938, the interior of the synagogue was completely destroyed, the Torah scrolls publicly burned, and numerous shops in Brzeg were ransacked.
