Narrative
In July, 1945, Pöppendorf camp was built between Lübeck and Travemünde, to accommodate discharged members of the German Armed Forces.
From November 1945 onward it served as a transit camp for refugees from eastern Germany.
On September 17, 1947, the Pöppendorf camp was ready for re-occupation, and served as a refugee transit camp until mid 1950.
Narrative
Practically nothing reamains to remind one of the tragedy of the Exodus 1947 refugees, except for an information board in Waldhusener Forest that indicates that the former residence of these victims.
In the Jewish cemetery in Moisling, there are two gravestones, one of which is inscribed with: "EXODUS - Unknown Child".

Melach Schubert, his wife, Rosa, and his son Zeev, were interned at Pöppendorf by the British.
