On November 10, 1893, SS Dominion was launched as the Prussia for HAPAG

On June 24, 1894, she made her maiden voyage Hamburg-Havre-New York

In 1898, he was purchased by the Dominion Line, and renamed Dominion.
She was rebuilt, new tonnage: 6,618 gross; accommodation altered to: 200 1st, 170 2nd and 750 3rd class.

On May 7, 1898, she made her first voyage for Dominion Liverpool-Quebec-Montreal

In 1908, she was chartered to the American Line for Liverpool-Philadelphia.
