In 1936, the Jewish Settlement Police משטרת היישובים העבריים was established as a division of the Notrim נוטרים.
Commanded by Charles Orde Wingate, they cooperated with the British and formed a joint British-Jewish unit, the Special Night Squads.
The Jewish Settlement Police משטרת היישובים העבריים also provided paramilitary training to Haganah הגנה units.
