The Germans transported Košice's entire Jewish population of 12,000, plus an additional 2,000 from surrounding areas, in cattle cars to the concentration camps.
Approximately 10,000 Jews were deported by the Arrow Cross Party and the Nazis and murdered in Auschwitz.
