Narrative

Beit Hashita בית השיטה means Home of the Acacia Tree, in Hebrew.
The kibbutz is is located at the foot of Har Gilboa, at the foot of which Gideon tested the loyalty of his fighters by bringing them to the Maayan Harod Springs, in the eastern Jezreel Valley עמק יזרעאל.
Gideon chose 300 warriors, and defeated the Midianites.
"They blew the 300 trumpets... and the army fled as far as Beit Hashita". (Judges VI:22)

On December 3, 1928, kibbutz Beit Hashita קיבוץ בית השיטה was founded by members of Kvuzat haHugim and members of Tnuat haMahanot haOlim, from Haifa and Jerusalem.

Kibbutz Beit haShita קיבוץ בית השיטה served as the basis for the book Kibbutz Makom, which described the kibbutz society.
The kibbutz has been privatized.
