Baron Byng High School was named after Julian Hedworth George Byng, 1st Viscount Byng of Vimy, the Governor General of Canada from 1921 to 1926.
Baron Byng was a World War I hero at the battle of Vimy Ridge,
In 1926, he was involved in the King-Byng Affair, a political scandal dealing with the succession of the Canadian Government.

Established in 1921, by the Protestant School Board of Greater Montréal (PSBGM), Baron Byng High School taught mostly Jewish students

Carke Schacter served in the Army Dental Corps, stationed at Lesters Field.
He worked at the Naval Barracks, HMCS Avalon, in Saint John's.

Clarke Schacter was stationed at Botwood, Newfoundland, where he had the honour of shaking the hand of Winston Churchill, who had stopped over.

Clarke Schacter was stationed at Dorval, after his return from Newfoundland.
He was later transferred to PNE Cow Barn, in Toronto.
